Apple will offer the 2018 iPhone lineup in a range of stunning new color options, according to one reliable analyst.
Grey, blue, red, and orange will be some of the shades available when the new devices go on sale this fall. The largest of the three, dubbed iPhone XI Plus in some reports, will be offered in gold.
Apple is expected to deliver three new smartphones this year. The 5.8-inch iPhone X will obviously get a refresh, and it will be accompanied by a larger model with a 6.5-inch OLED screen. A more affordable alternative to both will also be available with a 6.1-inch LCD screen.
We can expect these devices — the most expensive ones, in particular — to offer new Apple processors, improved cameras, and other new features that give us a reason to upgrade. They could also be a lot prettier than last year’s iPhone lineup.
Kuo expects new color options for 2018 iPhone family
We don’t expect the physical design of the iPhone to change this year. It’s likely all three devices will look just like the iPhone X. However, reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a great track record for predicting Apple’s next moves, says they will be available in new color options.
The 6.5-inch OLED model is expected to come in black, white, and gold. The new 6.1-inch LCD model could offer the most exciting choices, with Kuo predicting grey, white, blue, red, and orange finishes. 9to5Mac, which obtained Kuo’s note to investors, has mocked up what these might look like in the image above.
“We have heard some mumblings prior to today’s report about Apple expanding the color options for the cheaper phone, but this is the first time someone reputable has reported specifics,” the report adds.
It’s thought the 6.1-inch iPhone will cost around $700, which is $300 less than the iPhone X. It’s likely Apple will cut some features to reach that price tag; some reports have claimed 3D Touch will go, and it will offer just one rear-facing camera as opposed to two.
