If you own a Mac that was made between 2009 to 2011 it is about to become officially obsolete.
Apple plans to no longer offer support for two MacBook Pros, a Mac mini and MacBook, according to a new report that reveals the devices are set to join the long list of vintage Apple products.

An internal Apple memo obtained by MacRumors shows that the four devices will no longer be eligible for new parts or hardware service after December 31st 2016. Neither Apple or its authorized service providers will be able to fix the Macs in 2017. So if you’ve got a five year old Mac, you might want to get it checked out for any issues before the deadline.
Here’s which Macs are on the chopping block:
• MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011)
• MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2011)
• Mac mini (Early 2009)
• MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2009)
There are some expections though. Mac products purchased in the state of California will still be eligible for repair until the end of 2018, in order to comply with state laws. Customers who bought their Mac in Turkey will also be able to have it serviced for the next two years as well.
Putting Macs and other products on Apple’s obsolete list is standard practice after five years. You local repair shop may possibly be able to fix the obsolete Macs still, but doing so will require find parts from unauthorized sources.
