A ton of new emoji land on iOS devices today with the public launch of iOS 9.1.

Apple released iOS 9.1 this morning to users after five beta builds of the first big iOS 9 update were tested by developers. Among the new features: dozens of new emoji for everything from tacos, burritos, unicorns — and even a middle finger.

iOS users currently running iOS 9.0.2 can grab the new software via an over-the-air update or download it directly from iTunes.

Here’s everything that’s new in the update:

iOS 9 made more obvious when the Shift key is selected. In iOS 9.1, Apple enlarged the glyphs for shift and delete a bit.

iOS 9.1’s most notable new feature is the new emoji characters added to the keyboard that include images for burrito, avocado, unicorn, taco and a new mystery eye emoji.

Live Photos fix

Half of my Live Photos are just me lowering my iPhone to the ground after snapping a pic. Apple’s fixing that in iOS 9.1 by adding a feature that senses when you raise or lower your camera to stop recording.

Turn off contact pics

There’s a new setting in the Messages section that allows users to turn off contact pictures if you want a cleaner look.

Apple News

iPhone and iPad users in the U.K. can now get on the Apple News action with iOS 9.1. The feature is still not available worldwide, but it’s getting one step closer.

Are you sure this information is accurate? I can’t get the update OTA and no other apple site that I usually visit is reporting this update.

Started it just now, went into Settings >> Software Updates and it indicated it was available.

Downloaded for maybe 3 minutes, preparing for a minute or so, now verifying/installing.

Everyone doesn’t get the OTA update at the same time.

What is it about these posts that compels people to proclaim “Got it! Installed!” as if that’s somehow worthy of a boast? And if it isn’t meant to be a boast, how is it possibly of any use or interest to anybody else?
