Music doesn’t always have to be tightly funneled into our ear canals for us to enjoy it. Audio companies are finding ways to bring a big sound to an open space from a portable package.
Add House of Marley to the growing list of Bluetooth, water-resistant speakers currently vying for our listening attention. The eco-friendly audio company created by the family of Reggae legend Bob Marley unveiled the Chant Sport Tuesday, a 360-degree sound chamber about the size of a water bottle.
The portable speaker is the hot hardware for the moment with companies like Beats, Ultimate Ears, Sony and Bose just to name a few producing high-end portable Bluetooth speakers to liberate our playlists from our iPhones to a bigger world without the weight or wires of traditional sound systems.
Like all of its products, the design of the House of Marley Chant Sport is super cool and made with reusable materials without sacrificing the Marley signature sound.
The signature sound, whether its House of Marley headphones, earbuds or speakers, tend to be rich in bass and reviews on these products are often mixed. Some love the heavy bass, while others prefer their bass as more of a supportive layer of sound.
The speaker contains two 4.5 watt, 1.75-inch drivers and two passive radiators to give the Chant Sport its sound. There is also an auxiliary input for additional connections for devices not equipped with Bluetooth.
It’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery promises to deliver eights hours of wireless play. The speaker will retail for $119.99.
