We’ve seen a few pictures of filming underway for Sony’s Steve Jobs movie, but today we got the first look at Michael Fassbender as Jobs. Some on-set stills show the X-Men and 12 Years A Slave star in an outdoor scene with Seth Rogan as Steve Wozniak.
Fassbender was a curious casting choice to replace Christian Bale as Jobs, but given how the project has been a revolving door of names until just before shooting, its producers were probably just happy to get a good actor with some notoriety.
While Rogan looks slightly believable as Woz (although what’s with that jewfro?), Fassbender unfortunately bears no resemblance whatsoever to the character he’s playing. He makes Ashton Kutcher look like Jobs’ doppelganger.

Given that writer Aaron Sorkin wants this film to be Oscar worthy, it will be interesting to see how/if Fassbender overcomes his lack of physical similarity in portraying Jobs. Plenty of great actors have played real life characters they don’t look like, but it’s going to take a killer performance from Fassbender to overcome such a believability barrier.
Sorkin’s script centers around three Apple events: the original Macintosh launch (likely what’s being filmed today at De Anza), NeXT, and the original iPod. Some flashback scenes will include Jobs’ childhood home in Los Altos, and his daughter Lisa is said to be the film’s heroine.

Say what you will about the Ashton Kutcher movie, but at least he looked exactly like Jobs. Fassbender isn’t even close. Even Rogan that everyone is so up in arms about at least he looks fairly similar to Woz.
alex’s point about other movies about real life people doing well despite not looking all that similar is valid. But everyone knows (and still remembers) what Jobs looks like so I think that makes it a bigger deal.
I agree with everything you just said except the statement about Rogan.
Rogan looks NOTHING like Woz
That is all
LOL. He just looks like Michael Fassbender in a suit, wondering around.
funny that
I thought with the right makeup he could look like Jobs, but they’re not even doing that, I hope at least they put contact lenses, I don’t think I’ll buy a blue-eyed Jobs, no matter his acting, it’ll be so distracting…
Pixar should be making an animated psychedelic movie about Steve Jobs. Everything else will be a bore.
He looks more like Sculley than Jobs.
he’s a great actor. but they should do some makeup or CGI to make him more believable.
Oh no… Nothing look like Steve….Sorry
It’s not that important that Fassbender doesn’t look like Steve Jobs
Jesse Eisenberg looks nothing like Mark Zuckerberg. Last I heard this didn’t stop the film from being fantastic.
It all comes down to a little thing called, you know, ACTING. Not to mention the writing.
I’m 100% confident that Fassbender will outshine Kutcher’s shit performance by pure talent alone. I care more about a great performance and accurate storyline rather than doppelgangers.
Noah Wyle for the Win!
He was the only damn choice for the role.
ROGEN NOT ROGAN
looking like someone is no comparison to having talent.
