A new Apple Store opening up is always something of an event. But over the weekend, a one-of-a-kind Apple Store opened in London, and I guarantee you’ve never been to one quite like it.
It looks like an Apple Store. It even sells various Apple products. But not the kind you’re thinking of: not Macs, but Macintosh apples.
To observe Apple Day, an annual celebration of apples and orchards celebrated mostly in the United Kingdom, and its own 1,000th anniversary (!), the historic Borough market on the south bank of the Thames commissioned London agencies TinMan and Teatime to create a parody of the Apple Store that sells nothing but apples.
Called The Real Apple Store, the installation parodied Cupertino, mimicking Apple’s distinctive retail design right down to the displays and typeface choices. Over 1,000 different apples in a number of different varieties were displayed in the space, exactly as if they were iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.
It seems like a really charming exhibit, and unlike an actual Apple retail location, the Real Apple Store gave away freebies. Check out the video above to learn more about The Real Apple Store.
