For a certain subset of Apple fans, the only thing more exciting than Cupertino unleashing a new device upon the world is the box they choose to unleash it in. Apple is famous for its sexy, minimalist packaging design, and when the Apple Watch hits the market in 2015, we are expecting it to come in a box worthy of its luxury watch status.
Of course, what that box will actually look like is anyone’s guess. But Evelio Mattos of Design Packaging has released a stunning Apple Watch concept that isn’t just sexy, but has a killer hidden feature: the box doubles as an iPhone dock!
“When Tim Cook released the Apple WATCH and iPhone 6… the first thing that came to mind was how often is the watch going to need charging? But that question quickly evolved into how will we charge it among the increasing number of mobile devices that we carry everyday needing a nightly charge?” Mattos writes of his design.
“Immediately John and I discussed what that meant for consumers and the ultimate experience for charging these items on your nightstand, the clutter of cables, the ever growing mess of products; iPads, phones, and now watches. Not very minimalist, not very Apple.”
The solution, says Mattos, is a watch holder that can double as a dock, charging your Apple Watch even as your Apple Watch holder charges your iPhone. I think it’s a brilliant, elegant idea.

Very cool idea, but with the interchangeable wristbands, the watch will probably be sold similar to packaging of the iPod Nano with the bands sold separately.
iPhone docks are useless unless they take into account the protective bumper case.
