When it comes to all the elite conferences Silicon Valley is so well known for, Apple executives rarely make appearances. Apple’s shortlist includes the annual Code Conference and Allen & Co.’s business conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. The second kicks off next week.
Like last year, Tim Cook and Eddy Cue have been invited to hobnob with the tech and media world’s most powerful players. Both execs attended last year, and if they choose to do so again this year, there will undoubtedly be many interesting conversions had behind closed doors with competitors and potential partners.
Re/code’s Kara Swisher got her hands on the guest list, and she mentions that Allen & Co. probably hope Cue brings Jimmy Iovine along for the ride. That would make sense given that Iovine is considered to be one of the most influential men in Hollywood, and he presumably has grand plans for Apple’s future media content offerings.
We’ve contacted Apple for confirmation that Cook, Cue, and possibly Iovine will be attending.
Other names on the list include Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter’s Dick Costolo, Bill Gates, Netflix’s Reed Hastings, Google’s Eric Schmidt, and so on.
Tim Cook went to Sun Valley on his own during his first year as Apple’s CEO, and last year both he and Cue attended. If they bring along the big guns this year with the newly-hired Iovine, some crucial deals could be stuck. Unfortunately, we’ll probably never know how such conversations go down.
