Every year Oprah Winfrey makes a list of her favorite things in life and then she gives everyone in her audience free copies of everything on her list. When you got a few billion to burn you can do that. One year Oprah said she just loooooved the iPad. Like, she said the iPad was the greatest thing ever, and middle-aged women across the country wept with joy. Now, she’s saying she’s totally off that and onto the next cool tablet – The Microsoft Surface.
Yesterday, Oprah tweeted: “Gotta say love that SURFACE! Have bought 12 already for Christmas gifts. #FavoriteThings” Thing is, Oprah tweeted about her love for the Surface from her iPad. So you know, I guess you can love an object that you never use. That’s cool. Well played Oprah.

anyone know how much Oprah charges companies to get on her list of Favorite Things? I can only imagine that this is a marketing gimmick and Bill Gates gave her a chunk of change to say it.

nice to see you on here Shawn. I’ve missed your condescending rants so very much. I wasn’t alluding to the fact that Bill Gates was the former CEO of Microsof. However, he is still the chairman and co-founder of microsoft and he and Oprah are friends. He still has a stake in Microsoft’s future even though he has more billions than he’ll ever need. So I could see Bill Gates hanging out with Oprah sweet talking her, and telling her “yo, we’ll pay you guys X amount to put the Surface on the list.” I mean, I’m joking and playing with that image, but it’s also not something that’s completely far fetched either.
Now that’s “credibility”. Well done, Oprah!

Went onto Oprah’s twitter account to see for myself. No mention of the “Twitter for iPad” on the original tweet. Also this tweet says went out at 6:57pm where the live one says 8:57pm. Deleted and re-tweeted using a program (due to both going out at 57 after the hour) probably. Or some handy photoshop work by the Apple faithful.
