Apple TV+ has not officially said if British crime drama series Criminal Record is a go for season two. But its star and executive producer, Cush Jumbo, says it’ll happen.

She said so on a talk show late Sunday night.

Cush Jumbo says Criminal Record season 2 is a go on Apple TV+

Criminal Record season one is currently streaming on Apple TV+, which is a great thing for fans of British crime thrillers. (Brits are great fans of police procedurals.) Now viewers can look forward to season 2 of the series, if star Cush Jumbo is correct about its renewal, Deadline reported Sunday.

Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, asked Jumbo on the show Sunday night what she knew of a possible second season of Criminal Record.

“There will be, yeah,” Jumbo replied. She plays Detective Sgt. June Lenker on the drama, starring alongside fellow executive producer Peter Capaldi. She plays an ambitious young detective to his seasoned veteran, Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty.

The two detectives clash over an old murder case. As a fan of the show, I’ll just say it presses all the right buttons, steadily meting out mysterious clues not just about the case, but about the older detective’s possible corruption and culpability. The two keep careful tabs on each other as they begin to work together, and the audience is kept guessing about what might happen to whom.

Capaldi, who won an Oscar for a short film, is well-known for playing the title role in Doctor Who. (The 12th person to do so, he won a BAFTA and other awards for the sci-fi role.) Jumbo got a Critics Choice Award nomination for best supporting actress for TV drama The Good Fight.

Paul Rutman writes Criminal Record and executive produces along with Jumbo, Capaldi and Elaine Collins. Jim Loach directs the series. Tod Productions and STV Studios produce the show for Apple TV+.
