Rock Paper Pencil v2 offers textured iPad screen protector and Apple Pencil tip

An iPad with stylus make an outstanding tool for digital artists, allowing them to draw or paint directly on a touchscreen. But not everyone can get accustomed to drawing or writing with a stylus on a glass screen. That’s where Rock Paper Pencil v2 comes in.

It stands out from the competition by bundling a specially designed Apple Pencil tip with its textured iPad screen protector.

The original version launched in 2023, and Astropad says it quickly became one of its best-selling products. But users had feedback — hence the improved replacement.

The textured iPad screen protector is getting an upgrade.

“The biggest change in v2 is that we’re getting rid of the magnetic edge and replacing it with our new NanoCling tech. It’s still removable, reusable, non-adhesive, etc — but it uses static cling to stick to your iPad, which is actually stronger than magnets,” said an Astropad spokesperson.

The company promises an easy, bubble-free application.

In addition, the company enhanced the Apple Pencil tip with a palladium coating and other improvements to be able to withstand heavy daily use. And that’s not all: after a 30% reduction, the actual writing tip is down to the size of a ballpoint pen tip.

Price and availability

Rock Paper Pencil v2 launched Wednesday. It’s $39.99, and ships worldwide.

There are versions of the textured iPad screen protector/Apple Pencil tip for the iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad and iPad mini. The product comes with one reusable screen protector and two Apple Pencil tips.
