Apple will run a promotion in China offering up to RMB 800 ($70 off) on iPhones. The sale will run from January 18-21 and is available through Apple’s online and retail stores in the country.

The Cupertino company is providing discounts on the most popular products in its portfolio, including iPhone 15 Pro, MacBook Air, and AirPods.

Save up to $50 on iPhones, $70 on MacBooks

The products Apple will not discount during its Lunar New Year sale in China include the late 2023 MacBook Pros, M3 iMac, Apple Watch Ultra 2/Series 9, and AirPods Pro.

This discount from Apple comes amid multiple reports of iPhone sales experiencing a significant slowdown in China. It is rare for Apple to discount its products through its stores.

Typically, third-party resellers offer heavy discounts on iPhones and other Apple products during major shopping events. Major Chinese retailers offered deep discounts of up to $200 on the iPhone 15 within weeks of its launch to boost sales.

Apple says you must use an eligible payment method to get up to RMB800 off on products on sale. On iPhones, the company will provide up to RMB 500 off; on iPads, you can save up to RMB 400. The highest discounts are available on the MacBook Air, with up to RMB 800 off.

You can find more details about the sale on Apple’s Chinese New Year shopping event page.

Huawei eating into iPhone’s demand in China

Apple has been facing intense competition from Chinese manufacturers in the country in recent months. Huawei’s comeback has negatively affected the demand for iPhones in China. The Chinese government banning its workers from using iPhones has not helped demand either.
