Sonic Dream Team pits the high-speed hedgehog against an evil mastermind with the power to make dreams real.

It’s one of four additions to the Apple Arcade gaming service, including Disney Dreamlight Valley, Puzzle & Dragons Story and Turmoil+.

All of these and hundreds more and playable with a single subscription fee.

4 new games in Apple Arcade

New games join Apple Arcade almost every week. But the service is trying something different this month. Instead of one game each Friday, all of December’s additions launched together on Tuesday. Introducing them later would have run the risk of the fresh titles getting lost in the general holiday hoopla.

So be aware, this is it for Apple Arcade additions before the end of 2023.

Sonic Dream Team is a bad dream come true

In Sonic Dream Team, the evil Doctor Eggman has discovered The Reverie — an ancient device with the power to manifest dreams in the real world. It’s up to players to guide Sonic and friends as they navigate twisted dreamscapes, rescue their friends, and put a stop to Doctor Eggman’s quest for world domination.

Players take command of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Cream, and Rouge and use their unique abilities to race through mind-bending dream worlds that include wall-running, gravity changes, and more.

Sega’s Sonic Dream Team can be downloaded now from the App Store. The Apple Arcade exclusive is a single-player 3D action platformer. There are versions for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV, with external controllers supported.

It’s the latest addition to the Sonic franchise, which has seen more than 1.6 billion games sold and downloaded worldwide over the decades.

Explore Disney Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition

Another new addition to Apple Arcade is Disney Dreamlight Valley, a blend of life simulation and adventure game featuring Disney and Pixar characters lie like WALL•E,  Belle, Goofy, and many more.

Players restore Dreamlight Valley from the grips of a mysterious force called the Forgetting. The game also includes the expansion pack “A Rift In Time.”

Disney Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition is available now on the App Store, and is playable on iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV. It’s for 1 to 4 players, and game controllers are supported.

Puzzle & Dragons Story offers, well, puzzles and dragons

Mix an RPG with a puzzle game and get Puzzle & Dragons Story, another exclusive addition to Apple Arcade.

Playing combines match-three puzzles with creature-collecting RPG gameplay in which players will recruit allies, improve their teams and conquer dungeons. Matching and erasing orbs commands the player’s allies to attack enemy creatures. Show skilled play and combos to unleash even more powerful attacks.

The developer, GungHo Online Entertainment, promises that new dungeons and creatures will be added frequently to keep the game fresh.

Hunt for oil in Turmoil+

Yeehaw! There’s a 19th century oil boom happening in Turmoil+. Players become aspiring oil entrepreneurs and outwit cutthroat competition by strategically leasing land, drilling for oil, and maximizing profits through shrewd business deals.

This is what Apple calls an App Store Great. It’s a previously released title added to Apple Arcade with any in-app purchases, ads, etc. stripped out. A “+” is added to the name to make this clear.

Turmoil+ is in the App Store now. It’s playable on iPhone and iPad.

Access to Sonic Dream Team or any these four comes with a $6.99-per-month subscription to Apple Arcade. And the same goes for 200+ other games. Plus, one subscription works for up to six family members.

There are never hidden costs. In-app purchases are forbidden.
