New in iOS 17 are interactive widgets on the Home Screen — that is, widgets that can do things, not just passively show information — and a handy one is Calcullo.

Calcullo is a $1.99 calculator widget for your Home Screen that makes it easy to tap out quick calculations on the fly.

The iPhone and iPad have built-in calculator apps, but it’s a minor hassle to open them up every time you need to crunch some numbers.

But with Calcullo, you have a simple calculator directly on the Home Screen, making quick calculations a breeze. Just go to your Home Screen and start calculating. It looks just like Apple’s official calculator apps, so it’ll be familiar if you use them at all.

The widget comes in a couple of sizes. On an iPhone, the small square widget is just big enough to use with some careful finger pecking (with my fingers anyway, which aren’t particularly svelte or nimble). The bigger widget stretches across the full width of the Home Screen, with big keys that are easy to hit accurately.

Calcullo doesn’t have a ton of features, but does have a history, so that you can track previous calculations.

The Calcullo widget is compatible with the widget Smart Stack, so it can be part of a rotating stack of widgets that occupy the same window.

It’s also compatible with Standby Mode, turning your iPhone into a calculator as it charges.
