Wish you didn’t have to open the Apple Music app to see what song will play next? The new iOS app LivePod turns your Apple Music Up Next queue into a Live Activity on your Lock Screen. And with newer iPhones, it shows up in the Dynamic Island.

You can use it for free on a limited basis.

LivePod app

LivePod for iOS comes from developer Aditya Rajveer, who also made two other Apple Music apps, WidgetPod and Marvis Pro. LivePod offers simple functionality, but it’s convenient for those who like to keep on top of their tunes.

When you listen to music on iPhone or iPad, just open the LivePod app. It immediately surfaces a Live Activity for Up Next below your Lock Screen’s media controls showing the upcoming song.

And if you have an iPhone 14 Pro or an iPhone 15 model, all you have to do is glance at the top of your screen, because the Live Activity appears in the Dynamic Island.

And while surfacing Up Next as a Live Activity is the app’s main function, that’s not all it does. You also get notifications and background sounds.

You can pick up LivePod for free for limited use — 200 updates. After that, if you want to keep using it, you can pay $2.99 for an in-app purchase that opens all the features. All you need to show a Live Activity like this is an iPhone running iOS 16.2 or later or an iPad running iPadOS 17 or later.
