World soccer phenom Lionel Messi conquered the world. And now he’s come for the United States, according to a new documentary teaser trailer Apple TV+ dropped Monday for Messi Meets America.

The six-part series, which debuts October 11, is all about Messi’s first season with Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF.

“Join Lionel Messi as he embarks on his historic next chapter — taking North America and Major League Soccer by storm, and ushering in a new era with his Inter Miami CF teammates,” the trailer’s YouTube page noted.

It’s a short trailer, but Messi followers will no doubt get a charge from it.

“My happinesss has always been playing football, and now I can continue doing it here,” Messi says in Spanish in the trailer, his phrases intercut with his heroic goal scoring on the pitch and being being carried off the field by julilant fans.

I mean, he’s kind of a big deal, if you hadn’t noticed.

One of 2 Messi documentaries

Messi Meets America is one of two Apple TV+ documentaries from Smuggler Entertainment about the legend. He gained fame playing for FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain FC and the Argentine national team, including its 2022 victory in Qatar. The other new documentary, still to come, covers his international triumphs.

Following his time in Europe, Messi’s move to MLS club Inter Miami CF “forever changed the face of soccer in North America,” Apple TV+ said in a press release. And his resulting appearance in Leagues Cup and MLS matches on Apple’s MLS Season Pass almost immediately triggered a doubling of subscriptions.

“I couldn’t be happier coming to Miami and joining such an amazing group of people and organization,” Messi said. “I’m joining with the desire to compete, win and help the club continue to grow. I also think we’re going to really enjoy ourselves, have a good time and that very special things are going to happen.”
