Pro Display XDR is still the best high-end monitor for a Mac

Apple announced the Pro Display XDR at WWDC19. It has been four years since then, but the monitor remains among the best 6K display for a Mac.

Yes, the starting price of $5,000 puts the monitor out of reach of almost everyone but the pro users. But then the display has the specs to match its price tag. The 6K Retina panel features 576 local dimming zones, with a full-screen brightness of 1,000 nits and a rated peak brightness of 1,600 nits.

As if the insane specs were not good enough, Apple has packed the 32-inch panel in a sleek aluminum body. There are hardly any monitors in the market that look as gorgeous as the Pro Display XDR.

For connectivity, you get one upstream Thunderbolt 3 port with 96W power passthrough. There are also three USB-C ports for connecting your accessories.

There’s no denying that the Pro Display XDR is an expensive monitor. At its starting price tag of $5,000, you can probably get 3-4 monitors. But none of them will pack a 6K display or such a high peak brightness. But if you are ready to spend the money, it is hard to beat the performance of the Pro Display XDR.

You can get the entry-level variant of the monitor for $4,799 after a $200 discount. And if you opt for the nano-texture glass model that cuts down on glare, you can save $300 on it.
