New MacBook Air is the ‘world’s best 15-inch laptop’
Unveiled last week at WWDC23, Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air is the largest Air yet. It packs a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a rated brightness of 500 nits. Internally, the machine houses an M2 chip that can be configured with up to 24GB of system memory.
Despite being the “world’s slimmest 15-inch laptop,” Apple says the new MacBook Air can provide 18 hours of battery life.
Besides the bigger display and chassis, the 15-inch MacBook Air comes with the same features as its 13-inch sibling. The only other big upgrade is a better six-speaker sound system (versus the four speakers on the smaller model). Unlike the MacBook Pro lineup, which has three USB-C ports, you get two Thunderbolt ports on the Air lineup. Plus, the machine officially only supports one external monitor. This could be a bummer for some, especially if you are a power user.

Priced at $1,299, the 15-inch MacBook Air is $200 more expensive than the 13-inch Air. (That’s after the latter received a $100 price cut at WWDC, dropping its price to $1,099. While expensive, there’s no doubt the 15-inch MacBook Air is among the best 15-inch laptops you can buy. The M2 chip, excellent build quality and lightweight chassis make it a great machine to carry around all day.
