Known for laptop cases and other accessories, Targus recently unveiled its new Cypress Hero Backpack with Find My Locator.

So if it goes missing, you can find the eco-friendly pack and any gear in it using your iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Targus Cypress Hero Backpack with Find My Locator

The new Targus Cypress Hero Backpack with Find My Locator features a padded space inside for a laptop up to 15.6 inches and integrated Find My functionality to make it easy to find if you lose it. That’s similar to what Hyper promised with its HyperPack Pro.

And the Targus pack is made from 26 recycled PET plastic bottles, so you can feel good about its relatively low environmental impact.

“We’ve designed this innovative backpack with a built-in Find My Locator for today’s eco-conscious consumers who need an easier way to organize, protect and keep track of the devices and personal items they carry every day,” said Scott Elrich, Targus’ director, Global Product Management, Soft Cases.

“Unlike other location modules that can be easily removed, the Find My-compatible location module is highly integrated with the backpack, making it difficult to remove. The backpack is also made using GRS-certified recycled materials, making it smarter for the planet.”

As Elrich noted, Targus designed the Find My location module to be difficult to remove from the backpack. It uses low-energy Bluetooth to pair with your Apple Find My network so you can find the backpack — and hopefully whatever was in it — with the Find My app.

To do so, just pair the pack with the Find My app to view it along with your Apple devices. The backpack comes with directions for that.

Designed for low environmental impact

Here’s how Targus describes its use of recycled materials to make the pack:

Using GRS-certified recycled materials, 26 plastic bottles were shredded into small flakes, re-polymerized into plastic chips, and heated and spun into yarn that was stitched and sewn into the fabric of this EcoSmart laptop bag.

It’s interesting to see a detailed description of the process, where many manufacturers would just say “recycled plastic bottles.”

Other features

It'll protect your laptop, but there's plenty of room for other stuff, too.

In addition to a padded compartment for laptops up to 15.6 inches in size, the backpack features a large main compartment, a “secondary compartment with a workstation,” and a convenient front quick-stash pocket in front for your small everyday-carry items, Targus said.

Adjustable shoulder straps and a padded back panel help make for a comfortable fit and a pass-through trolley strap attaches to luggage.

Although many Targus products sell on Amazon, this one doesn’t appear to be there yet.
