Silo, Ted Lasso and Ghosted all showed up in this week’s lists of the most-watched streaming movies and TV shows. They offer further proof that Apple TV+ can successfully compete against Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.
In fact, Silo currently ranks as the most popular series on any streaming service.
Apple TV+ makes his series and films
There are a lot of streaming services, and they all compete fiercely. Apple TV+ is a relatively small player — with only about 6% of the market — but it nevertheless produces content popular enough to give it outsized impact. Landing a film and two series near the tops of the charts is just the latest example.
Silo
The dystopian sci-fi mystery Silo debuted on Apple’s streaming service in early May and immediately shot to the top of the charts. Its popularity is holding strong. Movie and TV search engine JustWatch releases a weekly list of the 10 most popular series on streaming, and Silo still ranks at the top.
Based on the bestselling books by Hugh Howey, the show focuses on the last people on Earth. They live in a massive underground structure — shockingly, it’s known as the silo — that protects them from the toxic conditions on the planet’s surface. Slowly, they discover there’s more to their predicament than meets the eye.

Ted Lasso
The second-most-popular streaming series last week was Ted Lasso, the sports comedy that brought Apple TV+ to the attention of the world back in 2020. The third season is streaming now, and it’s getting plenty of viewers, according to JustWatch.
For those who’ve been living under a rock, Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team, despite being completely unfamiliar with the sport. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination — and biscuits.

Ghosted
Recently released Apple TV+ action flick Ghosted enjoyed the most successful launch of any film on the streaming service yet. And it’s still pulling in plenty of eyes, weeks later.
It’s been out since April, and JustWatch puts it in fifth place on its list of the 10 most popular movies on streaming.
In the film, Cole (played by Chris Evans) falls for Sadie (Ana de Armas) before discovering (spoiler alert) that she’s a CIA agent. The two get caught up in an international adventure to save the world in true action-movie style.
