Apple Music goes big on Rihanna ahead of Super Bowl performance

Apple Music trotted out various ways Monday for fans to get into Rihanna ahead of her Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in Glendale, Arizona, February 12.

These include a halftime-show press conference on February 9, her catalog in Spatial Audio on Apple Music, Apple Music Sing karaoke and Apple Music Radio commentary, the service said.

First, note that this all leads up to Rihanna’s performance in the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. It’s Apple Music’s first-ever sponsorship of the show. Rihanna herself teased fans with a first-look trailer.

Apple Music said fans can access Rihanna’s songs with Spatial Audio in Dolby Atmos starting Monday.

“Rihanna is one of the most prolific artists of our time, and we, along with her many fans across the globe, cannot wait to see her take the stage at the first Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats.

“We are excited to celebrate Rihanna, and give her fans a new way to experience her music with Spatial Audio, as well as exclusive content from Apple Music,” he added.

The service noted Apple Music Radio’s Nadeska Alexis will interview Rihanna at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Press Conference on February 9, at 9 a.m. PST.

You can watch live or on demand on Apple Music; on @AppleMusic’s TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter; or on the NFL Network.

Vocalize with Rihanna on Apple Music Sing

And that’s not all — you can also sing along with Rihanna. The new Apple Music Sing feature lets you sing her songs solo, perform duets, sing backup and more. It works on all compatible iPhone and iPad models as well as the new Apple TV 4K.

Multiple Apple Music Radio features

Apple Music Radio plans a lot of features leading up to Rihanna’s big night.

Programming includes “Halftime Hype Radio,” a 10-part series reflecting on notable Super Bowl Halftime performances in the past. The eight-episode “Rihanna Revisited Radio” roundtable explores the cultural impact of the singer’s catalog. And “Live from Super Bowl LVII” features daily live broadcasts with Apple Music Radio hosts Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden and Nadeska Alexis with special guests.

And on Monday, February 13, “Halftime Recap Radio” wraps up the whole event. You can tune in to Apple Music Radio at apple.co/_Radio.

Apple Music added that the service will include a collection of 32 playlists of top songs each NFL team listens to in locker rooms, weight rooms and on game day.

Also include are warmup playlists from players like Kansas City Chief’s tight end Travis Kielce and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and a “throwback video playlist revisiting halftime performances from past games.”

Apple Music said you can follow the latest updates from Rihanna’s “Road to Halftime” on Apple Music by visiting apple.co/_RoadToSBLVII. It noted you’ll be able to access the halftime show after the performance on Apple Music.
