Apple’s 5K Studio Display packs an impressive specs sheet

Announced in March 2022, the Studio Display is Apple’s cheaper alternative to the Pro Display XDR. The 27-inch 5K monitor features True Tone, P3 wide color gamut, and is rated for up to 600 nits of brightness. Other notable specs include three studio-quality microphones and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio support. You can get the display with an optional nano-texture glass that cuts down on reflections.

More impressively, the display packs an A13 Bionic chip — a first for a display — and a 12MP f/2.4 Ultra Wide camera. The latter even supports Center Stage, ensuring you are always in the center while on video calls. At the rear, the Studio Display has one upstream Thunderbolt 3 port with up to 96W charging support and three USB-C 10Gbps ports for connecting external accessories.

The Studio Display debuted as Apple’s first affordable monitor since the company discontinued the Thunderbolt Display in 2016.

Without the optional VESA mount adapter and the nano-texture glass, the Studio Display costs $1,599. Amazon has currently discounted this variant by $300 to $1,299, making it a noticeably more affordable. You can get the display with the nano-texture glass that cuts down on reflections for $1,749. That’s a sweet $150 discount off its $1,899 MSRP.
