Plugable just launched a dock with an eye-popping number of ports. The 16-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Quad Dock offers nearly every type of port a Mac can access, like HDMI, DisplayPort, six USB-A ports, Ethernet and many more. It can be part of a really tricked-out setup.

Plus, the accessory-maker also introduced the Plugable USB-C 11-in-1 Hub at CES 2023.

Many Macs have a fairly minimal number of ports. Docks and hubs expand the capabilities of the computers by increasing not only the number of ports but also the types available.

Plugable Thunderbolt 4 Quad Docking Station

Connect Plugable’s new docking station into a computer that supports Thunderbolt 4 to give access to all 16 ports. The dock uses the Intel Goshen Ridge chipset for professional-grade performance.

The list starts with the with two HDMI ports and two DisplayPort ports – users can plug one monitor of either type into each pair. The dock supports two 4K 60Hz displays on Macs powered by M1 Pro or M1 Max chips.

There’s the aforementioned six USB-A ports with transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps for users to add a keyboard, mouse, thumb drive, etc. There’s also a 10Gbps USB-C port. However, there are no additional Thunderbolt ports as there’s not enough bandwidth for them.

In addition, the Thunderbolt 4 Quad Docking Station includes 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, SD and microSD card readers, and an audio jack.

Plugable’s first Thunderbolt 4 dock (also known as the TBT4-UDZ) is available for preorder now on Amazon for $299.
