Winners will be named in early 2023.

Apple TV+ pulls in five Golden Globe noms

The Golden Globe Awards are given out annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. These days there are dozens of awards for TV and film, but the Golden Globes are among the most prestigious, ranking up with the Oscars and the Emmys.

The nominations for the 2023 awards were revealed on Monday, giving Apple TV+ something more to crow about. The premier season of the thriller Severance got the nod for Best Television Series Drama. And its star Adam Scott was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama.

Black Bird earned its share of Golden Globe noms, too. It’s up for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. And star Taron Egerton is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Co-star Paul Walter Hauser earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Both series aren’t just popular with critics. The weird workplace drama Severance topped the streaming charts, and Black Bird drew a big audience as well.

Apple TV+’s perineal awards darling Ted Lasso didn’t get any nominations this time, but it wasn’t snubbed. There have been no new episodes since 2021 so it doesn’t qualify. The same goes for The Morning Show.

Winners of the 2023 Golden Globes will be named on January 10, 2023.
