Ted Lasso has some words of encouragement for the members of the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team headed for the FIFA World Cup next week. Billboards with personal messages from the lead character of the hugely popular Apple TV+ show popped up in the hometowns of players and the head coach over the weekend.
The notes are very Ted Lasso.
Ted Lasso is rooting for the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team
Ted Lasso is perhaps America’s most famous soccer coach, even though he isn’t real. He’s the center of Apple TV+’s fish-out-of-water show about a football coach managing a pro soccer team.
Apple clearly wanted to cheer on the U.S. players headed for the World Cup, and had Lasso send notes to the players. But these aren’t emails – they’re billboards.
The U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team collected images of these notes and posted them on Twitter.
We believe.

The character is famous for being optimistic and folksy, and his notes to players are inline with that. For example, the note to head coach Gregg Berhalter says, in part:
I just know you and your extra ‘G’ are ggonna take those fellas all the way. Maybe even earn yourself a third ‘G’ at the end for being so gregggcellent.
Best greggards,
Ted Lasso
Or a billboard in San Diego addressed to Luca de la Torre, says in part:
I’m no scientist or San Diego-ist, but my studies show this city’s about to crank up the happy once you stroll onto soccer’s biggest stage. You’re gonna give them something to smile about from the top of the podium.
Best of Luca,
Ted Lasso
The FIFA World Cup kicks off November 20 in Qatar. U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team faces off against Wales on Tuesday, November 22.
The first two seasons of Ted Lasso are available now on Apple TV+. Watching comes with a $4.99 a month subscription to the service. A third season is expected… soon? 🤷🏻♂️
