Apple has unveiled the 2022 Apple TV 4K with significantly faster internals and a lower price. It features the same A15 Bionic chip found inside the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series.
The 2022 Apple TV carries a lower starting price of $129, making it $50 cheaper than the previous model.
New Apple TV 4K packs major internal upgrades
From the outside, the new Apple TV retains the same design as the 2020 model. But it is 10% thinner and 50% lighter, thanks to a fanless design. Apple has focused on internal changes with this iteration. It uses a notably faster A15 Bionic chip offering 50% faster CPU performance and 30% faster GPU speeds. Apple was rumored to use the A14 Bionic chip on the new Apple TV, but it is using an even more powerful processor.
Thanks to the new chip, the 2022 Apple TV 4K can playback HDR10+ videos. That’s in addition to Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital 5.1/7.1.

Apple continues to bundle the Siri Remote with the new Apple TV 4K. This time around, it features a USB-C port for charging.
2022 Apple TV 4K goes on sale starting November 4
Apple offers the 2022 Apple TV 4K in two variants. The entry-level configuration features Wi-Fi connectivity and packs 64GB of storage. Another variant features a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet port, 128GB storage, and Thread support. This will allow Apple’s latest streaming box to act as a router and control your smart accessories.
You can get the entry-level 2022 Apple TV 4K for $129 in the US. The 128GB model is available for only $149, making it $50 cheaper than the previous-gen variant. Apple is already accepting preorders for the new Apple TV 4K, with the streaming box going on sale starting November 4 in over 30 countries.
