Raymond and Ray is a film about two half-brothers who reunite at the funeral of their terrible father. The dark comedy starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke will reach theaters and the Apple TV+ streaming service in October.

The trailer released Thursday gives a glimpse of the difficulties the two men face coming to terms with their father – whose last wish was for them to dig his grave.

Raymond and Ray depends heavily on star power

Raymond and Ray have a lot to process at their father’s funeral. Together, they try to discover who they’ve become as men, both because of their father and in spite of him.

The focus is, of course, on the two lead actors, Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke. McGregor is best known for the Star Wars movies, while Hawke was in Training Day and Moon Knight.

Rodrigo García both wrote and directed the movie.

The film had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12. It will reach theaters October 14 and begin streaming October 21 on Apple TV+.

Watching comes with $4.99 per month subscription to Apple’s streaming service. Also available through TV+ are other dark comedies, like Bad Sisters and Slow Horses.
