A recent leak of CAD renders revealed the possible design for the rumored Apple Watch Pro, a high-end smartwatch reportedly designed for extreme athletes. An artist subsequently turned those basic renders into images that show what the wearable might look like in future Apple adverts.
With Apple’s Far Out event set for Wednesday morning, we’re also hearing plenty of chatter about accessories for the company’s top-tier wrist computer, which is likely to be unveiled.
Apple Watch Pro might debut Wednesday
The Apple Watch Edition models — with luxe cases made of titanium, ceramic or 18-karat gold — served as top-of-the-line watchOS offerings for many years. However, a new device is about to take that crown, according to numerous leaks. And the ruggedized case reportedly will bring the biggest design changes yet to Apple Watch.
Rumors usually refer to the upcoming model as Apple Watch Pro, though it could sport another name. (Early rumors indicated Cupertino might call it Apple Watch Explorer Edition.) Apple supposedly will encase the device in a brawnier titanium case, which will house a larger display and a beefier battery.
The design allegedly leaked this week, with a flat display and an additional side button. Artist Ian Zelbo turned the leaked Apple Watch Pro CAD renders into a series of concept images showing what the device might look like in real life.
Zelbo also took a stab at guessing the Apple Watch Pro price point. His prediction … deep breath … “From $999.” (For reference, Apple Watch Series 7 models with titanium cases currently start at $799.)

Plenty of Apple Watch Pro accessories, too
Images supposedly showing cases for the new watchOS device also appeared on the web over the weekend. They help confirm the new chassis shape, and the additional button on the left side.

These apparently won’t be the only accessories for the product.
“The new set of bands for the Apple Watch Pro is going to be pretty wide ranging and play into the extreme sports theme,” claims Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman on Twitter.
As noted, the wearable is expected to target athletes, just as the upcoming watchOS 9 will offer plenty of new fitness features.
Apple Watch Pro (or whatever it’s actually named) will almost certainly be revealed at Apple’s Far Out product event scheduled for September 7. Apple Watch Series 8 and a new Apple Watch SE version are also likely on the docket. And the iPhone 14 series, too.
