Life is all about what you make of it. Or at least that’s how the saying goes, I guess. This week, we have an app that helps you make the most of your time, an app to help document it, and an app for the times in between. As usual, if you have something you want us to check out for a future Awesome Apps post, be sure to email your suggestion or tweet them over!

Sponsored: Have you ever found yourself scrambling to find a friend to go to a concert with? Or maybe you want to see the latest Hollywood blockbuster and want to extend an open invitation to a bunch of friends to join in. With the Happin app, you can create plans and let your friends join in – without the hassle of texting everyone in your contacts list.

Happin is designed to make it simple to find or create events for you and your friends. It can also help you find events happening in your area. Whether it’s a weekly “drink wine and paint” social gathering, a pickup game of ultimate frisbee, or the aforementioned concert or movie, Happin helps you find others to join the fun.

Whether you’re the type of person that is looking for something different to do, or you want a more streamlined (or even automated) way to plan a hangout/gathering with some friends, Happin makes it super-simple. Start planning your moments the easy way with Happin, and see how it makes your events the place to be.

Minutiae

Minutiae app: Sometimes life isn’t exciting. And those moments deserve to be captured, too.

So much of social media consists of the most curated snippets of life. Even the most “spontaneous” of moments are carefully framed, edited and staged. Honestly, it’s kind of annoying. But with Minutiae, the “feed” disappears, likes and comments don’t exist, and the moments you capture are truly unpredictable.

The idea is simple and clever. Each day, you’ll be prompted once (via push notification) to snap a photo of whatever is happening around you right now. Never predictable. Never the same minute of the day twice.

Within one minute of the push notification, launch the app, and you’ll be greeted with a five-second countdown. When the timer expires, the app snaps a photo. No second takes, no editing, no time for setting a scene — just capturing life as it is happening.

After snapping your photo, you can see other photos captured at the same time from other users. Navigate away, and you are back to your “grid” (a massive wall of tiny thumbnails) until the next photo opportunity. Sometime down the road (1,440 days, approximately), you’ll be able to download the entire collection of un-moments, or even have them printed in a limited-edition book (quantities limited). It really is the opposite of a social network, and is truly a unique way to capture the more mundane moments of life.

Price: 99 cents per month (or pay once and have it forever for $14.99)

1 Second Everyday: Capture life’s moments in 1-second bits, each and every day with 1SE
Capture life’s moments in one-second bits, each and every day with 1SE.

I try to capture a photo or video of something with my family every day. Sometimes it’s a funny thing happening around the house; other times it’s moments at the park. It’s something I’ve done for the better part of the last four years. And if you’re like me, sometimes you can overcomplicate the process. 1 Second Everyday is a great way to help you capture those special moments in bite-size pieces.

Focused on the idea that sometimes less is more, 1 Second Everyday (or 1SE) allows you to capture a one-second video clip each day. This allows you to create a quick, personalized video compilation of those special moments in life.

If the limitations of a single second each day are too much, or you want to capture a bit more of that special event — like a wedding or vacation — freestyle mode allows you to capture more freely throughout the day. Best of all, 1SE makes it dead simple to create a beautiful compilation of those clips to immortalize your memories.
