Apple’s powerful new M2 MacBook Pro is down to $1,199 on Amazon after a $100 discount. Considering the machine launched just a couple of months ago, this is a great deal.

The deal is available on the entry-level model in Space Gray shade.

2022 MacBook Pro is only ‘Pro’ in its name

Apple announced the M2 MacBook Pro at WWDC22 in June. The machine looks the same as the 2020 model but comes with a faster and more efficient M2 chip. Unlike the other MacBooks, you do not get a MagSafe port for charging, a thinner and lighter chassis, or other improvements. As our M2 MacBook Pro review roundup highlighted, the machine is a “Pro in name only” due to its archaic design and lack of ports.

Nonetheless, if you want a power-packed MacBook on a budget, the 2022 MacBook Pro will serve you just fine. The M2 chip packs an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, which have enough horsepower to handle your demanding workload. Apple claims the new MacBook is 25% faster than its M1-based predecessor. Tests have shown the M2 MacBook Pro’s SSD is slower than the M1 MacBook Pro. However, for most use cases, this should not make any difference.

If you can look beyond the old design and the slow SSD, the M2 MacBook Pro will serve you well.

Get the M2 MacBook Pro with an 8% discount

The entry-level M2 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and 256SSD carries an MSRP of $1,299. Amazon’s latest deal knocks $100 off its retail price in Space Gray color, so you can grab it for $1,199. The e-commerce giant has the 512GB and 16GB configurations of the MacBook in stock as well, but they are not on discount.

Compared to the M2 MacBook Air, the old design of the M2 MacBook Pro can be hard to swallow. But this $100 discount from Amazon makes that easier to a certain extent.
