Accessories-maker Grovemade recently added small and medium sizes to its lineup of desk shelves, which are wooden stands or risers for monitors and laptops that help you organize and store other items.

We see the Portland, Oregon-based company’s desk shelves from time to time in people’s workstations in Setups feature articles.

So as of early August, Grovemade Desk Shelves started coming in three sizes: Small and medium are the new ones, plus large. The size difference mainly amounts to how wide they are, so now even small desks can have one.

Good news for “made in the U.S.A.” fans: The company said it makes the shelves “the hard way” in Portland and at a partner facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The desk shelves come in solid hardwood, 15-ply premium hardwood plywood, or minimalist black and white matte, Grovemade said.

Each shelf features cork legs that are non-slip and won’t scratch a desk surface, and an aluminum secondary shelf with a curved back to keep its contents from falling off. It looks pretty easy to run cables through the shelves and down behind a desk.

And, like other types of monitor stands, the shelves can benefit your posture while they help you keep your desk tidy. That’s because a shelf raises up your monitor so you look straight at the screen rather than craning your neck up or down.

“In addition to looking great, by elevating your monitor the shelves help to reduce neck strain while also creating extra storage areas in your workspace,” Grovemade said.
