Apple has dropped a couple of new ads highlighting iPhone 13’s splash resistance and the durability of the Ceramic Shield front.

The entire iPhone 13 series carries an IP68 certification, making them dust and water-resistant. However, Apple is only highlighting the phone’s splash resistance capabilities in the ad.

Apple showcases iPhone 13’s splash resistance in new ad

In the 38-second video titled “Shake” with the “Cold as Ice” by Bekon soundtrack playing in the background, a dog shakes to dry off after jumping into the swimming pool on a hot day. Unsurprisingly, this ends up splashing water on its owner and her iPhone 13. The ad ends with the “Splash resistant” and “Relax, it’s iPhone” taglines.

Apple is careful not to show the iPhone 13 being dunked in the swimming pool. This is despite the phone being capable of surviving submersion for a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. This is likely because the standard one-year warranty from Apple does not cover any kind of liquid damage.

Ceramic Shield makes iPhone 13 a durable device

In the second ad titled “Edge,” Apple shows an iPhone 13 vibrating during an incoming call. The constant vibrations eventually lead the phone to slip to the edge of the table from where it falls face first on the floor. However, Apple does not actually show the phone falling face down.

The ad just implies that the iPhone has survived the fall, thanks to its Ceramic Shield front. “The Relax, it’s iPhone” tagline shows up at the end.

Apple first started using Ceramic Shield glass on the iPhone 12 series in 2020. The company has aired similar ads before to showcase Ceramic Shield’s durability. However, if you have butter fingers, you should always use a case and screen protector on your iPhone 13 to protect it from unwanted damage.

Remember that Apple’s standard warranty does not cover physical damage — you’ll need AppleCare+ protection for that.
