About Amazon Prime Day 2022
Amazon’s massive midsummer sale is so big it can’t fit into a single day — Prime Day runs for a full 48 hours. Amazon promises “two days of epic deals on top brands and small businesses.” In years past, we’ve seen great deals on everything from headphones to rowing machines.
It officially starts at 12 a.m. Pacific time on July 12 and runs through 11.59 p.m. on July 13.
Are Prime Day deals only for Prime members?
Officially, yes. Prime Day is exclusive to Prime members. If you’re not a member of Amazon Prime, you’ll miss out on the sales, as well as all the other perks that membership provides. Amazon Prime members get fast, free shipping as well as free video and music content.
Prime members even get special savings at Whole Foods Markets, which Amazon owns. Amazon offers discounts for students and recipients of select government assistance programs (EBT, Medicaid, etc.)

Amazon recently boosted the price of an annual Prime membership to $139 per year, or $14.99 per month. If you’re on the fence, there’s good news: You can start a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial and snag those Prime Day discounts. After the big sale, you can cancel your membership with no penalty.
Students can also get a six-month trial (and 50% off Prime once the trial expires).
