If you’re looking for a HomeKit-enabled air purifier that can handle large rooms, you have a new option: SmartMi launched its new brand Jya and its Fjord air purifier.

It joins SmartMi’s two existing HomeKit air purifiers, but it features more of a “Nordic” aesthetic and is designed for larger rooms, the company said.

Smartmi launches Jya brand with Fjord air purifier for HomeKit

Smart home product manufacturer Smartmi offers two air purifiers for HomeKit users in Europe – the popular Smart P1 Air Purifier for small-to-medium-size rooms and the Smartmi Air Purifier 2 for larger rooms.

Last week, the company introduced Jya, a subsidiary brand for the North American market. Jya’s Fjord and Fjord Pro air purifiers promise great specs and what the company described as more of a “Nordic design aesthetic.”

The Jya Fjord air purifiers have a typical oblong design, with a small control panel and OLED display on the front rather than on top. The Fjord offers not only the standard HEPA-13 filter standard but also comes with a UV light to effectively sterilize bacteria and viruses. However, the company doesn’t make any claims about COVID-19.

Real-time air quality tracking

Jya Fjord and Fjord Pro both feature an IAQ sensor. The air quality indicator rates air from excellent to unhealthy via LED lights. It provides five key air quality data detections: PM10, PM2.5, TVOC, temperature and humidity.

All are displayed on an HD OLED touchscreen with touch controls that toggle through different stats. That makes it easy to know how clean the air is or switch to different modes.

Jya Fjord main features

  • Large-area coverage: Refresh the air for a 333 to 581 square foot room
  • Clean Air Delivery Rate (265 cfm), TVOC Clean Air Delivery Rate (88 cfm)
  • Powerful purification: NanoGuard technology with UV sterilization
  • Premium and detachable body design with LED display
  • Quiet operation: 18.8 dB in sleep mode

HomeKit support

The Jya range works with Apple HomeKit as well as Google and Amazon. And you can use the company’s app, Smartmi Link. The Jya Fjord also comes with casters in the base, which lets you roll the unit. No need to lift it.

The company offers a special deal: If you order the Fjord and a six-month filter together (the Fjord is $399, the filter is $59), you get the filter for free at checkout.

The Jya Fjord Pro is not yet available in the U.S., but will cost $499 when it is.

Price: $399
