Satechi’s USB-C Slim Dock sits on the stand for the 24-inch iMac and adds six frequently-used ports. It also sports an enclosure for user-installed SSDs.

It launched Friday, and is available now for 20% off the usual price.

Satechi Slim Dock for iMac improves functionality without bulking up

“We have seen a trend in the creator community where there is an increasing need and desire for more data storage capabilities, so we’re eager to offer yet another solution for expanding workplace functionality without a hefty price tag,” said Brock Guclu, Co-Founder and President of Satechi.

The Slim Dock sits over the front of the iMac stand so it is out of way. But it also makes a space to put the computer’s keyboard when it’s not in use.

The hub is designed exclusively for the iMac Apple introduced in 2021. It comes in either silver and blue to match the desktop.

More ports and storage

On the right side of the hub are a 10 Gbps USB-C data port, a 10 Gbps USB-A data port, and microSD and card reader slots.

On the back is a pair of slower USB-A 2.0 ports for accessories like keyboards and mice, as well as the USB-C port for connecting Satechi’s hub to the iMac.

Inside the Slim Dock is an enclosure for an M.2 NMVe SSD or M.2 SATA SSD. The actual drive is sold separately, and can potentially make terabytes of storage available to the Mac desktop.

Satechi’s USB-C Slim Dock for 24-inch iMac is available now for $149.99. Until June 13, take 20% off the cost with code IMAC20 on Satechi.net. That brings the price down to $120.
