Mophie’s latest ultra-compact USB-C wall chargers, containing gallium nitride (GaN), are available exclusively at Apple or Mophie’s parent company Zagg, the companies said Wednesday.
The Mophie Speedport chargers, designed to power up iPhone, iPads and Macs, come in 30W and 67W sizes.
New Mophie USB-C GaN wall chargers available at Apple
Mophie released two new ultra-compact Speedport USB-C chargers designed for iPhones, iPads, and Macs Wednesday in 30W and 67W variations — and you can only get them at Apple or Mophie (Zagg).
The smaller one is similar in size to Apple’s 5W charger, yet six times as powerful. The larger one is considerably smaller than Apple’s version with the same power output.
The use of GaN makes the chargers smaller, lighter and more power efficient than silicon-based chargers, including Apple’s own 30W and 67W chargers.
Both of the new chargers feature foldable prongs and a USB-C port with fast charging capabilities. A 2-meter USB-C to USB-C cable is included.
The 30W charger is ideal for use with iPhones, iPads and the M1 MacBook Air, Mophie said. The 67W charger is suitable for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and other larger devices.
Apple’s only GaN charger so far is its 140W USB-C power adapter, included with the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro and sold separately.
Rumors suggest Cupertino plans a new 35W charger with dual USB-C ports that could include GaN material. Leaked images the charger featuring foldable prongs.
You can order Mophie‘s new chargers through Apple’s online store. The 30W option costs $44.95 and the 67W option costs $69.95. Or, you can also order the chargers from Mophie’s parent company Zagg (30W or 67W) at 30% off when you buy two or more products.
