It could be a while before you can put a Mac Studio in your office.

If you need a Mac Studio this autumn, it might be smart to order it now. You could find yourself waiting for up to three months for delivery of some some top-tier configurations.

The macOS desktop appears to be caught by the same assembly delays that are affecting MacBook Pro.

Supply problems delay Apple deliveries

Customers are facing waits for a variety of Apple products. These are assembled in China, and supplies have been hurt by COVID-19 lockdowns in that country. Apple has been unable to ship enough of some types of iPad to meet demand.
And the wait times for the newest MacBook Pros have been even longer.

Buyers of Mac Studio are facing the longest waits of all. This is Apple’s first new desktop line in many years. It can be configured with an M1 Max processor or the M1 Ultra, the fastest processor Apple has ever made. But choosing a high-end version with this chip brings a lengthy wait.

Expect to wait weeks or months for Mac Studio

There’s no version of the Mac Studio available from Apple’s online store in less than a week. And the only configurations that ship so quickly are the ones with the base model M1 Max processor, 512GB of storage, and either 32GB or 64GB of RAM.

Increase the storage capacity to 1TB or more and the delivery window slips to between June 23 and June 30. The same is true if a faster version of the M1 Max is picked.

Place on May 3 from the online Apple store for a Mac Studio with an M1 Ultra and the nearest delivery window is between June 24 and July 11. And that for the version with 64GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, with the base model version of the processor.

For any configurations beyond that one, the Apple Store will only say the computer will be delivered in 10 to 12 weeks. That puts the arrival in late July.
