If you’d like to open your garage door with ease and also keep tabs on it, Wyze released a garage door controller in a $40 bundle that includes the Wyze Cam v3. The camera’s usually $30 by itself. Or you can buy the controller separately for $19.
Either way, you gain better control over your home’s alternative entry point at a low cost.

Bundle Wyze Garage Door Controller with Wyze Cam v3, or not
Wyze’s bundled product lets you control and view your garage door from anywhere using a Wyze Cam v3 and a controller box. That way you can see the door while you open or close it remotely using the Wyze app.
Most internet-connected garage door controllers, like the popular $30 Chamberlain MyQ smart opener, use sensors to tell you if your garage is open. But Wye’s new controller uses “AI vision-sensing technology” on the camera and a QR code sticker on the garage door to see if it’s open or shut.
The camera included in the bundle is the Wyze Cam v3 — a well-reviewed smart camera Wyze released in 2020. As with many Wyze products, users tend to find the features do the job and the price is right. The controller does not work with older Wyze cameras, unfortunately.
But the company said the controller works with most garage door openers. It also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Hopefully HomeKit compatibility is coming.
The Garage Door Controller is the latest device to launch from Wyze, following a $70 fingerprint deadbolt lock and other products.
But it also comes as Wyze deals with a recent report that the company failed to alert users of a serious security flaw on its original Wyze Cam for three years . The flaw allowed unverified access to saved footage on the camera’s SD card.
You can order the Wyze Garage Door Controller bundle for $39.99. To get the controller by itself, you can order the Wyze Garage Door Controller Replacement Part Kit, which does not include the camera. The kit costs $18.99.
