No stranger to racking up awards, Apple TV+ has now won its first for the unsettling hit drama Severance. Adam Scott, who plays Lumon Industries employee Mark S. on the show, will get The Webby Awards nod for best actor at a ceremony in New York City on May 16.

Severance actor Adam Scott wins Webby for Apple TV+

Writer Dan Erickson leaned on his own corporate misery to create Severance. It has become a big hit for Apple TV+.  Now series star Adam Scott can take an extra bow for winning The Webby Awards’ acting honor.

Here’s what the award organizers said on the Webby website:

Scott strikes multi-dimensional chords with the audience. His performance is incredible, it leaves the audience questioning at every turn of the show. The audience is gripped the whole way along and Adam’s performance is why. For bringing his talents to the streaming screen in Severance, it is our pleasure to honor Adam Scott at the 2022 Webby Best Actor.

One could say the show’s writing and its ensemble cast, including Scott, combine to make it irresistible.

Scott’s character is one of several colleagues who have gone through the Severance brain surgery to separate work and home lives. As such, Scott’s role requires him to portray the character’s differing emotional states as in “innie” (in the office) and an “outie” (out of the office).

After a cliff-hanger of a season one finale, the show has been renewed for a second season.

Apple TV+ is available by subscription for $4.99 a month with a seven-day free trial.
