Anker showed off its much-anticipated 736 USB Charger at CES back in January. At long last, now you can buy the powerful-but-compact 100W gallium nitride (GaN) charger at Amazon.

And you might want to do just that. It looks like Anker’s new GaN II charger beats Apple’s 96W charger in three ways. It’s smaller, more powerful and more versatile.

Anker 736 Charger: Small size, 100W of power, 3 ports

Originally announced at CES, the U.S. version of Anker’s highly anticipated 736 USB charger is now available through Amazon for $76.

Using Anker’s GaN II technology, the 100W 736 USB Charger is obviously a bit more powerful than Apple’s 96W charger. But it’s also 34% smaller and gives you the flexibility of three USB ports to charge multiple devices.

The 736 sports two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. It intelligently divvies up power among the ports depending on how many you use. When you plug something into either USB-C port by itself, it will deliver 100W of power.

That supports any Mac notebook with the exception of the fast-charging feats of the 140-watt charger that comes with the newest 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

And speaking of Apple’s powerful charger, it, like the 96-watter, also has only one port. And it’s quite large.

Port combinations

With the Anker 736, two-port setups allow you the largest number of possible combinations — depending on which ports are used. If you use both USB-C ports, the top one provides 60W while the bottom one offers 40W.

Using the top USB-C port and the USB-A port gets you 80W and 18W, respectively. Combining the bottom USB-C port and the USB-A will provide a 60W and 22.5W.

If you employ all three ports at once, the top USB-C port gives you 45W, the bottom USB-C port delivers 30W and the USB-A port pumps out 18W.

The 736 joins the similar Anker 735 charger, which Anker introduced earlier this month. Like the 736, the 735 includes two USB-C ports and a USB-A port, but it tops out at 65W of power.

The Anker 736 Charger comes in black and silver colors and costs $75.99.
