If you’d love to add a Sonos soundbar to your home theater but you find the company’s well-regarded products a tad pricey, just wait. According to a new leak, Sonos will release its least-expensive soundbar ever — just $249 — in early June.

New Sonos ‘Fury’ budget soundbar coming in early June

The most affordable Sonos soundbar is apparently codenamed “Fury” / model “S36” internally. It should arrive as soon as early June, according to TheVerge. It posted renderings and details in its leak Thursday about the yet-to-be-announced product.

The publication puts the new soundbar’s price at $249, about $200 below the second-generation Sonos Beam. The Fury is expected to launch in similar black and white finishes. But it will probably be about four inches shorter than the Beam because it will contain fewer drivers.

The Fury will also lack Dolby Atmos support, HDMI and built-in microphones, according to TheVerge.

For that reason, the new soundbar is likely to primarily connect via an included optical audio cable. However, The Verge said Sonos will work to expand the new soundbar to a 5.1 surround setup through a wireless connection with compatible Sonos speakers.

The publication also noted the soundbar will likely have a vertical mount that lets it act as an Atmos surround-sound complement to the flagship Sonos Arc soundbar. The Arc goes for $900, by the way.

TheVerge also noted Sonos is working on a smaller, more affordable subwoofer codenamed “S37.” But in that case, price and launch plans are unknown.

The new Sonos soundbar is expected to launch on June 7. So we should hear official word from the company soon about the product’s actual name and detailed specs.
