Maybe you thought about snapping up the exceedingly nice-looking Nomad Base One MagSafe charger for iPhone when it came out in March. But what about charging my Apple Watch, too, you asked.
Well, Nomad must’ve been listening, because it launched the Nomad Base One Max on Tuesday. It adds an Apple Watch stand to the Base One’s wireless charging pad.
Nomad Base One Max: Charge both iPhone and Apple Watch
Nomad expanded its range of MagSafe charging accessories Tuesday with the new Base One Max. The Base One Max follows the Base One released in March, adding an Apple Watch charger to the nice, hefty MagSafe pad.
Also somewhat hefty? The price. The Max retails for $149.95, $50 more than the Base One’s current price of $99.95 (at launch it was $129.95).
The Base One Max pretty much doubles the Base One’s footprint and integrates an Apple Watch charger. The MagSafe section for iPhone remains flat. The Apple Watch charger sits vertically. That way, your watch is easy to read while charging in nightstand mode.
At nearly two pounds, the Base One Max is constructed from aluminum, glass and soft-touch rubber.
The charger features one USB-C port on the back. A six-foot braided USB-C cable is included. But you’ll have to provide the charging brick.
And by the way, if you want the speediest-possible charging, Nomad recommended using a charger with at least 30W of power. That’ll let your iPhone charge at full 15W MagSafe charging speed.
However, Nomad’s Apple Watch charger does not support fast charging on a Series 7 Watch.
Nomad sells other multi-device chargers that juice up various devices at once. The Base One Max is good for one iPhone and one Apple Watch. The device has no extra ports where you can plug in other devices.
But it looks better than the average charger, and its heft may add a sense of value.
The new Nomad Base One Max comes in either silver or black colors.
