Don’t you just hate it when you accidentally refresh TikTok and lose the video you were watching? It can be incredibly difficult to track down the video again if you don’t know which account posted it. But a solution could be on the way.
TikTok is finally testing a new “watch history” feature where you’ll find all the clips you’ve recently consumed. It’s only available in the beta version of the TikTok app for now — but it could soon roll out to everyone.
It’s too easy to lose TikTok videos
One of the best things about TikTok is its “For You” feed, which shows you a constant stream of fresh videos based on what you’ve liked in the past. Most of the time, those videos are posted by people you don’t follow.
The upside of that is that it means you’re always discovering new content from people you might find interesting. The downside is when you accidentally lose one of those videos, it’s near impossible to track it down again.
TikTok is now (finally!) working on a feature that could solve that problem.
TikTok tests ‘watch history’ feature
Twitter tipster Hammond Oh, who regularly uncovers social media developments, this week posted a screenshot that shows TikTok is now testing a new “watch history” feature that appears on its “Settings & privacy” page.

Much like YouTube’s history feature, it puts all the videos you’ve recently watched in one place, so that they’re easy to locate in the future — even if you’re not following the people who posted them.
TikTok fans have long been calling for an upgrade like this. In fact, an unofficial method for locating lost videos, posted by TikTok user rachforaday, has attracted a whopping 5.5 million views and more than 120,000 shares.
In beta for now
Sadly, we can’t all enjoy this TikTok’s newest feature yet, since it’s only available to beta users. However, assuming the test goes well, it should eventually roll out to all TikTok users.
