The iMac Pro might start reaching customers in early summer, according to a very reliable tipster. While some are hoping for a debut as soon as March, that’s apparently overly optimistic.

And the leaker says reiterates that the all-in-one desktop will have a mini-LED display.

iMac Pro 2022 launch is 3+ months away

“MiniLED iMac Pro could launch in June,” said Ross Young on Monday via Twitter. Young is a display expert has contacts in companies that supply screens to Apple, helping him make accurate predictions about product debuts.

Word of a June release narrows the previous launch window. Previously, Young was only able to say the macOS desktop would be out in summer 2022.

Young’s comment comes amidst speculation that the iMac Pro is one of the three new Mac models Apple recently registered with a Eurasian regulatory agency. His remark was intended to lower expectations that the computer would launch at an expected March event.

If the next professional-grade iMac is unveiled in June, it will almost certainly be at the Apple WWDC Developers Conference, likely in the second week of the month.

Look for a 27-inch iMac with mini-LED

The iMac Pro 2022 has been the subject of many leaks and rumors. It’ll supposedly have a 27-inch display and its design will follow in the footsteps of last year’s ultra-slim 24-inch iMac. The 2022 iMac Pro will allegedly feature a new M1 Max Duo chipwith up to 20 cores for processing and up to 64 cores for graphics.

Young insists that it will include a mini-LED screen, bringing higher contrast, blacker blacks and improved brightness. “Some observers said no MiniLEDs, but we hear around 1000 zones and over 4000 miniLEDs,” he wrote on Twitter.

Young is the founder of DisplaySearch. His predictions about upcoming Apple products have so far been 100% accurate, according to AppleTrack.
