Beloved dachshund Pretzel from Pretzel and the Puppies is hopping from the classic book of the same name to an Apple TV+ series. He and his family are set for new adventures!

A trailer released Monday shows how much fun preschoolers will find in the series, which will debut soon on Apple’s streaming service.

Apple TV+ has real wiener with Pretzel and the Puppies

When your dad is the “world’s longest dachshund,” it puts a whole new twist on growing up! The series follows Pretzel (Mark Duplass), Greta (Nasim Pedrad) and their five puppies in their hometown of Muttgomery. They are a modern and unique family who are always sniffing out ways to “make their bark,” and make the world a better place for their four-legged friends and neighbors.

Pretzel and the Puppies stars the voice talents of Emmy Award-nominee Mark Duplass (The Morning Show), Nasim Pedrad (Saturday Night Live) and newcomers Milo Stein, Alex Jayne Go, Max Mitchell, Amari McCoy and Gracen Newton.

Pretzel was originally created in 1944 by Margret and H.A. Rey, who also created Curious George. The upcoming Apple TV+ series hails from HarperCollins Productions (Carmen Sandiego, The Oregon Trail). House of Cool (Despicable Me, Trollhunters) is responsible for design and story, while Saturday Animation (Mighty Mike, Zafari) handles animation.

Tony Wagner, a globally recognized expert in education and senior research fellow at Learning Policy Institute, serves as the curriculum expert on the series.

The eight-episode first season of Pretzel and the Puppies premies Friday, February 11, on Apple TV+.

More kids’ shows on Apple TV+

The series joins a growing catalog of children’s programming on Apple’s streaming video service. There’s Doug Unplugs and the new reboot of Fraggle Rock. There’s also the Emmy-winning Ghostwriter and Helpsters from Sesame Workshop, Wolfboy and the Everything Factory from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the Peabody-winning series Stillwater and many more.

And, of course, there’s plenty for adults, too, including thrillers, comedies, sci-fi, documentaries and more. Watching any of these comes with a $4.99-a-month Apple TV+ subscription.
