A new, red-and-gold, limited-edition design for Beats Studio Buds will celebrate the Lunar New Year in China and other countries — the Year of the Tiger — Apple said on Monday.

This follows a recent release of another predominately red, limited-edition design in collaboration with the men’s fashion store Union we wrote about earlier in December.

Limited-edition Beats Studio Buds: Available January 1, 2022

In addition to the Union design, you can also get Beats Studio Buds in the stock Beats Red color. However, the new Lunar New Year edition comes in a golden-striped tiger print, given that 2022 will be the “Year of the Tiger.”

According to the company, the product will be available in stores starting January 1, 2021.

“We’re celebrating the Lunar New Year with our special-edition Beats Studio Buds. As a tribute to the Year of the Tiger, the Buds feature an all-red design with gold tiger print accents. Out on January 1st!” Apple said.

True wireless, ANC, fast pairing

With a true wireless, in-ear design and an Apple H1 chip onboard, Beats Studio Buds resemble Apple’s AirPods Pro but come in more colors and lack a wireless charging case, among a few other details.

Beats Studio buds come active noise cancellation (ANC), replaceable ear tips, eight-hour battery life, and Class 1 Bluetooth for fast pairing with iOS as well as Android devices.

Pricing and availability

Pricing details don’t appear to be available yet, though the Year of the Tiger Beats buds may stick to the same pricing as the regular edition, just as the Union special edition did. That would be $149 at Apple, with lower prices often available at other places, such as Amazon.

The rollout of Lunar New Year Beats Studio Buds follows Apple’s announcement of a limited-edition AirTag in Japan featuring a tiger emoji. It also celebrates the Year of the Tiger.
