Apple TV+ will produce Surfside Girls, a 10-episode live-action kids and family series. It’ll tell the story of two friends who solve a mystery about pirate ghosts.

Surfside Girls is a Scooby-Doo type of adventure

Surfside Girls is an adventure series about two best friends who jump in to save their town. Sam and Jade are psyched to spend their summer riding the waves and catching the rays. That is until they meet a ghost. The girls dive head-first into a mystery about a pirate ship and cursed treasure.

To solve the mystery, the friends will need to combine their very different approaches of logic and imagination. Sam wants to help the pirate ghost break the curse while Jade is determined to find a scientific explanation for the existence of ghosts. Together, they’ll connect the clues, solve the mystery and save Surfside… and maybe they’ll help a couple of pirate ghosts along the way.

The Apple TV+ series will star Miya Cech (Rim of the World, The Astronauts) as Jade and YaYa Gosselin (We Can be Heroes, FBI: Most Wanted) as Sam.

Surfside Girls will be written by May Chan (An American Girl Story: Ivy & Julie 1976, Avatar: The Last Airbender), who’ll also serve as showrunner.

It’s not known at this time when the series will appear on Apple TV+. When it does, it’ll join a growing collection of original series and films on Apple’s streaming service, including thrillers, comedies, sci-fi, documentaries and more. A subscription is $4.99 a month.
