How do you make MagSafe charging even better? Add a cooling fan that allows for the fastest possible charge over a longer period, of course. The Zike 2-in-1 does just that to become the “world’s fastest” MagSafe charger.

Zike promises 15W of power — the most MagSafe charging can offer right now — for significantly longer to enable up to 50% faster top-ups for iPhone 12 and 13. It also charges a second device, like AirPods, simultaneously.

MagSafe charging is a huge improvement over regular wireless charging, but it could be better. It’s still nowhere near as fast as using a cable, and although it can deliver up to 15W of power, that doesn’t last for very long.

The heat generated during wireless charging means that most MagSafe chargers have to throttle themselves pretty quickly — down to as little as 7.5W — to prevent them (and your iPhone) from overheating.

This means that it takes longer to charge your iPhone to 100%. Zike was designed to avoid throttling by adding a cooling fan that keeps temperatures low so that the charger can deliver maximum power over longer periods.

Its creators say that Zike can charger an iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 up to 50% faster than Apple’s own MagSafe Charger and the rival Belkin 2-in-1.

Zike also does more than Apple’s MagSafe chargers

Zike also doubles as a stand, elevating your iPhone to a position that makes it easier to see and interact with at a desk. Its head can also be tilted and swiveled, so you can quickly switch between portrait and landscape modes.

What’s more, Zike features a second charging pad in its base — which has a soft microfiber surface — that you can use to top-up AirPods, a second smartphone, and other devices simultaneously.

If you’re interested in bagging a Zike for yourself, you can become a backer through Indiegogo — which will save you a pretty penny. “Early bird” supporters can purchase a Zike for just $79, while everyone else saves 40%.

When Zike makes its official debut, its creators expect it to be priced at $159. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2022, with the first shipments expected to go out in March.
