Twelve South has added a new chapter to the story of its leather iPhone case known as BookBook, cracking open a MagSafe version of the book-style case and wallet for iPhone 13. It looks like something you’d blow the dust off sitting next to a fireplace with a glass of cognac in hand.

Twelve South iPhone 13 BookBook leather case

Like the wares of many accessories makers, Twelve South’s iPhone 13 BookBook vol. 2 case is ready for Apple’s new handsets. Apple says iPhone 13 series smartphones are available for preorder from Apple starting Friday, with delivery commencing a week later.

The new case is an iPhone 13 wallet and viewing stand inside a handsome leather book-style folio. A leather shell holds the iPhone 13 in place, letting  you “separate your wallet and phone for charging or times when you only need your iPhone. It’s like getting two cases in one,” Twelve South said.

The company noted that if you have BookBook for iPhone 12 series, you can update it with the MagSafe version.

MagSafe charging

The company notes that to to enable MagSafe charging, you’ll have to remove the magnetic shell from the wallet:

Knowing the Apple MagSafe Charger is the fastest way to charge iPhone 12, we retooled BookBook’s leather shell to be MagSafe compatible. When it’s time to charge your iPhone, simply separate the magnetic shell from the wallet and attach it to your MagSafe Charger. You can also use the BookBook shell with MagSafe accessories, including car mounts, charging pads and desktop stands.

In addition to its MagSafe compatibility, BookBook features a 30mm magnetic tab that keeps the phone and wallet closed until you want it open. That helps keep the slots and pocket holding your cash, ID and bank cards protected.

The cover’s vintage, hardback-book style and rigid spine protect your iPhone from scratches and impacts, Twelve South said. It suggested that BookBook “disguises your iPhone as a vintage book, keeping your phone out of sight, even in plain sight.”
