Crossy Road, the hit iOS game inspired by ‘80s arcade sensation Frogger, will soon be available on Apple Arcade. You can preorder the game ahead of its release and it will download to your device on launch day.

Crossy Road, developed by Hipster Whale, first made its debut on iOS in late 2014. The objective of the game, much like Frogger, is to cross highways and venture as far as possible without being run over.

Players encounter all kinds of obstacles along the way — like bushes, stones, and rivers topped with floating logs — that make the game more challenging. And if you stand for too long in one spot, you’ll be snatched by a bald eagle.

If Crossy Road sounds like the kind of game that can keep you entertained for hours and you’ve somehow never played it before, you’ll soon be able to enjoy it on Apple Arcade.

Crossy Road on its way to Apple Arcade

Crossy Road has been added to Apple Arcade’s list of titles that are “coming soon,” but it seems it doesn’t have a more specific release date just yet. You can preorder the game now to get it automatically when it drops.

The Apple Arcade listing promises “Crossy Road re-imagined,” but it’s not yet clear how this version of the game differs from the original. As it’s an Apple Arcade release, it will be free of any ads or in-app purchases.

The game is a single-player title on iPhone and iPad, but players can enjoy a multiplayer mode on Apple TV. There are almost 300 characters to unlock, giving fans something to work toward alongside a new high score.

More games coming soon

Crossy Road Castle, a sequel to the 2014 game, is already available on Apple Arcade. However, it’s vastly different to its predecessor, so it does little to quell the craving for original Crossy Road action.

Other games also coming soon to Apple Arcade include Lego Star Wars Battles, Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, and Layton’s Mystery Journey. All are available to preorder now.
